OXFORD, Miss. - The Samford men's and women's track and field team finished competition this afternoon at the Joe Walker Invite, hosted by Ole Miss. The meet lasted started Friday and carried over to today as the Bulldogs competed in their second outdoor meet of the season.
Zephaniah Carico-McLennan got things started with arguably the best performance of the weekend as he set the second-fastest 800 meter time in the nation with a time of 1:47.56.Â
Grace Lueders was impressive in the same event on the women's side as she came in second place with a time of 2:08.18.
Adeline Haisch continues to dominate the 1500 as she captured another victory by over a full second.Â
In the field events on Friday,
Erin Long and
Brenna Lynn took first and second respectively for the Bulldogs in the women's javelin with best throws of 45.71m and 43.57m.
Carter Ellis had a strong showing in the men's pole vault as he took fourth place whileÂ
Kyle Kaufelds set a personal best in the men's javelin throw on his way to a second-place finish.
The men's decathlon finished today and Samford's
Samuel Werner took second place with a score of 7118, the second-best score in school history.
Bradley Franklin continues to win every event he enters as he took the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.94.
Dorsey Parker took third place in the women's high jump while
Amiel Dabney took third in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend as they head to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Invite on Friday and Saturday.
