LEXINGTON, Ky. –
Gabi Nicastro, a sophomore on the Samford women's golf team, is set to compete at the NCAA Lexington Regional, held at Keene Trace Golf Club, Monday through Wednesday.
Nicastro will tee off on the first hole at 8:50 a.m. for Monday's opening round. The top five teams and the top individual not on a qualifying team from each regional advance to the national championship, held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 16-21.
This marks the second year in a row Nicastro has earned a spot in a regional. She participated in the Auburn Regional as a freshman last season.
In 28 rounds of golf during the 2024-25 season, Nicastro led the team and ranked second in the Southern Conference with a 72.86 stroke average. She earned five tournament wins this season and was named SoCon Golfer of the Week four times throughout the season.
Nicastro tallied 13 at or under-par rounds during the season. Her low round of the campaign came when she shot a six-under-par 66 in the second round of the Mercer Invitational.
At the conclusion of the season, she was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year. She was also named first team All-SoCon.
