Bulldogs Have Strong Showing At Maroon And White Tuneup

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Samford track and field teams competed in the Marron and White Tuneup at Mississippi State on Thursday at Friday.

At the meet, Samford student-athletes finished in the top three in 14 events, including claiming first-place finishes in five different events.

In the women's high jump, Dorsey Parker took first place with a leap of 1.65 meters. Kyle Kaufelds won the men's javelin with a toss of 62.97 meters. Kiera-Lee Abrahams took first place in the women's long jump at 6.09 meters.

The men's 4x100-mter relay team of Ty Watkins, Caleb Yeary, Chase Webb and Cole Grande won the event with a time of 40.29 seconds. Samuel Werner finished first in the men's 400-meter hurdles, running the event in 52.79 seconds.

Next up, Samford will compete in the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships. The meet is scheduled for May 11-12 in Cullowhee, N.C.
