BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Five members of the Samford track and field teams have earned spots at the NCAA East Preliminaries, the NCAA announced on Thursday.
Arthur Chitty will compete in the men's high jump,
Kyle Kaufelds will represent Samford in the men's javelin,
Bradley Franklin will compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles,
Zephaniah Carico-McLennan will compete in the men's 800 meters and
Jess Edwards will compete in the women's 800 meters.
Edwards qualified in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:03.53. Franklin had a qualifying time of 13.07 seconds, the second-fastest time in the nation in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Carico-McLellan qualified for the men's 800 meters, running the race in 1:46.59. Chitty had a qualifying jump of 2.15 meters in the men's high jump. Kaufelds qualified for the men's javelin with a toss of 66.50 meters.
The NCAA East Preliminaries will be held May 27-30 in Lexington, Kentucky.
