LEXINGTON, Ky. – Samford's Bradley Franklin, Kyle Kaufelds and Zephaniah Carico-McLennan all competed in the NCAA East Preliminaries on Wednesday at the University of Kentucky, with Franklin advancing to the quarterfinals in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
 
Franklin qualified for Friday's quarterfinal round, finishing second in his heat with a time of 13.41 seconds. He will compete in the quarterfinal round Friday at 5:15 p.m. (CT), with the top 12 in that race advancing to the NCAA Championships.
 
Kaufelds had a throw of 63.70 meters in the javelin to finish in 26th place. The top 12 finishers in the event advance to the NCAA Championships.
 
Carico-McLennan competed in the men's 800 meters. He ran the race in a time of 1:47.79, finishing fourth in his heat and narrowly missing advancing to Friday's quarterfinals.
 
On Thursday, Jess Edwards will represent Samford in the women's 800 meters. The event is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. (CT).
