LEXINGTON, Ky. – Samford's Jess Edwards advanced to the quarterfinal round of the women's 800 meters Thursday evening at the NCAA East Preliminaries at the University of Kentucky.
 
Edwards ran the race in 2:02.61, finishing third in her heat and qualifying for the quarterfinal round. Edwards will now compete in the quarterfinals Saturday at 6:05 p.m. (CT), with the top 12 finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
 
On Friday, Arthur Chitty will compete in the men's high jump at 1 p.m. (CT), while Bradley Franklin will run in the men's 110-meter hurdles at 5:15 p.m. (CT).
