LEXINGTON, Ky. – Samford senior
Jess Edwards competed in the women's 800 meters on the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries Saturday evening at the University of Kentucky.
Edwards ran the race in 2:05.34, placing seventh in her heat and 20
th overall. The top three in each heat plus the next three fastest times advance to the NCAA Championships.
The race wraps up Samford's time at the NCAA East Preliminaries. Edwards,
Bradley Franklin (men's 110-meter hurdles),
Zephaniah Carico-McLennan (men's 800 meters),
Kyle Kaufelds (men's javelin) and
Arthur Chitty (men's high jump) all represented Samford at the meet.
Franklin qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will take place June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
