OXFORD, Ala. – Samford rising senior
Gabi Nicastro won the 94
th Alabama Women's State Amateur Championship, played at Cider Ridge Golf Club, Tuesday through Thursday.
Nicastro finished with a three-round score of nine-under par 207 (74-67-66) to tie with Courtney Grace for first place. Nicastro then won a playoff with Grace to take the championship. This marks the second time Nicastro has won the Women's State Amateur Championship as she won the event in 2024, following her freshman season at Samford.
Winning the Women's State Amateur qualifies Nicastro for the U.S. Women's Amateur. The U.S. Women's Amateur will be held August 4-9, at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Samford's
Anne Reaves Skinner also played in the tournament, placing 22
nd in the 36-team field. She shot a three-round total of 243 (84-84-75).
