Kurt Kennedy enters the second season of his second stint on the Samford football coaching staff. He coaches the team’s offensive tackles and tight ends.
In 2022, Kennedy helped coach an offensive line that helped produce a much-improved running game. He also helped Samford to its best season in over 30 years, posting a record of 11-2 overall and 8-0 in Southern Conference play, winning the program’s first outright SoCon title and reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I-FCS Playoffs for the first time since 1991.
Kennedy comes to Birmingham after stops as the recruiting coordinator at Jacksonville State and ULM. Kennedy will coach the tight ends and tackles.
This is Kennedy’s second stint on the Samford coaching sta , having served as an offensive quality control coach from 2018-19. After leaving Samford, he was the offensive line coach (2019-20) and the quarterback/running back coach and passing game at Fort Scott Community College (2020-21).
Prior to his first stint at Samford, Kennedy was an Intern with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2018) and an offensive quality control coach at Florida State (2010-18).
