Alexis Gillespie is in her 5th year in the Samford athletics department and in her first year as the Associate AD for Student Athlete Academics.
In her current role, Gillespie oversees the Athletic Academic Department and is in charge of football academics.
Alexis comes to Samford from Georgetown University where she was the Coordinator for student-athlete Services working with football, track, field hockey and lacrosse. Before this she was at Samford from May 2021-Janaury 2025 as the Director of Academics working with football and women's basketball. Prior to Samford, Alexis was a Graduate Assistant for Academics at the University of Louisville with baseball, Women's basketball and Men's Soccer.
As a student athlete, Alexis was a 4-year starter in Field hockey at Ohio Wesleyan University where she ranks 3rd all-time career goals and career points.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Gillespie graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2015 with a B.S. in Health & Human Kinetics. Two years later, she received her M.S. degree from the University of Louisville in Sport Administration.
Gillespie resides in Hoover with her husband Brandon.
