Edie Anthony

Edie Anthony enters her first year as Samford’s Director of Broadcast.
 
In her new role she will be in charge of all aspects of Samford’s ESPN+ broadcasts.
 
Anthony comes to Samford from the University of Alabama where, during her undergraduate career, she served as a production assistant for Crimson Tide Productions from 2021 to 2024. She produced interviews, films and photographs. She also helped produce live broadcasts of Alabama sports, working with the SEC Network and ESPN to produce Alabama games. She worked multiple positions including director, technical director, replay, graphics, camera and in-venue dashboard. She has experience working volleyball, soccer, football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball and gymnastics.
 
She also worked as an event coordinator for the University of Alabama Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department from 2021 to 2024. In that role, she planned, coordinated and oversaw events, while also budgeting and creating schedules for events and communicating with outside vendors.
 
Anthony was also a college ambassador for Niche from 2022 to 2023. She created content to market Niche scholarships, giveaways and information to help students apply for colleges and universities. She also advised incoming students and proofread their entrance essays.
 
Additionally at Alabama, Anthony served as an event programmer for university programs from 2020 to 2021. As an event programmer, she planned, coordinated and oversaw events, while also budgeting and creating schedules for events and communicating with outside businesses.
 
In the summers of 2021, 2022 and 2023, Anthony was a teaching artist at UAB Artplay. In that role, she taught dance to students aged six to 18. She also choreographed certain numbers and served as dance captain for the performances.
 
Anthony, a native of Vestavia Hills, earned her bachelor’s degree in dance and communications and information studies with an emphasis on creative media and journalism in 2024.
