Jake Venables enters his first season as the director of football strength and conditioning.
Venables comes to Samford after spending the last three seasons as the associate director of sports performance at UAB. While at UAB, Venables was responsible for all programming in the weight room. He provided coaching and training for “return to play” athletes, organized player profiles collecting data from early off-season to preseason, provided athletes with daily nutrition and conducted daily hydration tests.
In addition to his duties with strength and conditioning with the Blazers, Venables assisted with the coaching of the special teams.
Venables was a graduate assistant at Clemson for the 2022 season and 2023 off-season. He also was a strength and conditioning intern with UFC from January to May of 2022.
Venables earned his B.A. in sports communication from Clemson in 2021. He also earned a master’s in athletic leadership from Clemson in 2023.
