2017 Samford Volleyball Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University volleyball team officially released its 2017 schedule Monday as the Bulldogs unveiled an upcoming slate featuring 30 matches, 12 of which will be held at the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Samford's schedule will also include high-profile matches against Alabama, Indiana, UNLV, New Mexico State, UTEP and FGCU. On Sept. 12, the Bulldogs will play host to the Crimson Tide in a highly-anticipated home matchup beginning at 7 p.m. (CT).
 
Samford will open play in its 2017 fall schedule by hosting the Samford Invite, Aug. 25-26. During the four-team, two-day event, the Bulldogs will compete in matches against Southeastern Louisiana, Ohio and Murray State.
 
Next up, Samford will then head to three straight tournament weekends consisting of the Loyola-Chicago Invite, the New Mexico State Invite and the Indiana Invite.
 
The Bulldogs will begin play in their Southern Conference schedule Sept. 22, in a home match against The Citadel. As usual, Samford will play each team in the conference both on the road and at home this season.
 
Two key stretches for the Bulldogs will be a four-game road stretch from Sept. 29 through Oct. 7, when they face consecutive away tests against Western Carolina, UNCG, Chattanooga and ETSU. Later in the season, Samford will host a huge four-game SoCon home stretch against UNCG, Western Carolina, ETSU and Chattanooga from Oct. 27 through Nov. 4.
 
The Bulldogs will close out their 2017 regular season with important road matches at Mercer and Furman before heading to Western Carolina for the SoCon Tournament to be held Nov. 17-19.
 
Last season, in Head Coach Keylor Chan's first year at the helm of the Samford volleyball program, the Bulldogs won the SoCon Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they battled the No. 4-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
