SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. - Sophomore Andy McRae finished in a tie for 60th place with a three-round total of 229 and the Samford Men's Golf Team finished last in the 18-team field at the Chattanooga Intercollegiate at the Signal Mountain Country Club.
McRae shot 76-79 in Monday's 36 holes then fired a 74 in Tuesday's final round to complete the tournament, which was won by Jacksonville State's Angel Monguzzi with a three-round total of 205. Senior Mike Clements followed McRae at 66th position with a 230, and Seth Mobley also fired a 74 on Tuesday to finish in 74th place with a 233. Bradley Farmer rounded out the Bulldog roster with a 234.
Jacksonville State also won the team title by tallying a 6-under-par total of 846. Eastern Kentucky shot even par for the tournament with 852, followed by Elon (861), Middle Tennessee State (865) and Ole Dominion (871) in the Top Five.
The remainder of the field finished as follows: host Chattanooga (874), Appalachian State (874), Davidson (878), Belmont (880), Tennessee Tech (882), Radford (885), Morehead State (886), Winthrop (888), Wright State (889), Western Carolina (891), Lipscomb (912), Birmingham-Southern (916) and Samford (921).
The Bulldogs return to action on Oct. 22-23, playing in the Louisiana Tech Intercollegiate in Calhoun, La.
