Chattanooga Women Roll Over Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - -The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team recorded their largest victory ever in a 105-42 victory at Samford University on Tuesday night.

Chattanooga (2-2) placed five players in double figures. Nneka Irons led the Lady Mocs with 17 points, Miranda Warfield and Mandy Rollins each scored 16 points, Katie Galloway had 15 points and Heather Dykes added 14 points as Chattanooga shot 58 percent from the floor and 59 percent from three point range. The Lady Mocs shot 67 percent from the floor in the second half as they put up 61 second half points to hand Samford its worst home defeat in the programs five-year history.

Samford (1-2) was led by 10 points from Giovanni Price who has been in double-figures in all three of Samford's game this season. Price and Natalie McLendon each grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Tara Enoch hit a pair of three-point shots in the second half to finish with a career-high six points. The 44 points were Samford's lowest production of the season.

Chattanooga led from start to finish as the Lady Mocs built an early 7-2 lead and then go on a 21-5 run take a 28-7 lead at the 10:16 mark of the first half. Chattanooga held Samford to just 29 percent shooting from the floor and 24 percent from three-point range.

The Bulldogs will have a couple of days to regroup before they open up Atlantic Sun Conference play at Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Samford and FAU will tip off at 2 p.m. CT in Boca Raton, to begin a four-game road trip for the Bulldogs. Samford will face UCF in Orlando on Monday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
