TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-- After winning the first game of the Bama Bash tournament 8-4 over Tennessee Tech on Friday, the Samford Bulldogs struggled to a 0-3 day on Saturday.
The Bulldogs began the day against the no. 5 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide used a nine-run third inning to take an 11-3 victory over the Bulldogs. The three runs are the most Alabama has given up in the tournament.
Samford faced Illinois State in the second game of the day. Samford jumped on top 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Michelle Dickey singled home Janet Middleton with the game's first run. Illinois State responded with four runs in the top of third and went on to a 6-1 victory.
Samford again faced Illinois State for the right to meet Alabama in the Championship game. The Bulldogs committed six errors leading to eight unearned runs as the Redbirds won 10-0.
Jennifer Graham went 4-8 over the three games and Michelle Ashley was 3-9 in her first action of the season.
The Bulldogs are now scheduled to play Tennessee Tech in the consolation game at 11 a.m. Alabama and Illinois State will play in the Championship game at 1 p.m.
