The Samford women's tennis team fell to 70th-ranked UAB 5-2 Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, UAB improved their record to 9-0 on the season. Samford drops to 3-5.

The Blazers started the match off strong by winning all three of their doubles matches.

In singles action, UAB took four of the six singles matches. Samford took two points with Courtney Collins defeating Tanja Pflugfelder 6-4, 3-2, ret. at no. 4 singles and Kristen Upp defeating Kristina Wilson 6-2, 6-0 at no. 6 singles.

The Bulldogs will continue their season as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. on Mar. 3 to take on Alabama State. Match time is set for 9:00 a.m.
