Baseball Struggles at Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State hit four home runs on Friday night in a 7-4 win, then out-hit the Bulldogs 10 to five in the first game of a double header to knock off the Bulldogs 6-2 at Didier Field on Saturday.

Nicholls State (12-12) second baseman Rondon Anderson hit two home runs in the first game of the three-game series on Friday, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored. Samford (4-10) pitcher Ty Dedmon (0-3) struck out 11 in the loss, and Robert Evans and Danny Nelson each went 1-for-3 to lead Samford offensively. Brad Dantonio and Kevin Larpenter also hit a home run for the Colonels.

In the seven-inning affair on Saturday, Anderson and Larpenter again led the Colonels, each going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Nelson was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI for Samford and Robert Evans took the loss (0-2), pitching 5 and a third innings and striking out four.

Samford returns home to host Birmingham-Southern on Tues., March 13, at 6 p.m., then plays at BSC on Wed., March 14 at 7 p.m.
