* Samford (11-27, 3-12 TAAC) is on a two-game win streak, sweeping UT-Martin in a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Bulldogs are hitting .243 as a team and have a .347 slugging pct.
* Samford is led at the plate by Vestavia native Robert Evans, who is hitting .392 with five home runs and 18 RBI. Two other Bulldogs are hitting above .300, Josh Rhodes (.364) and Sae Evans (.314).
* Sae Evans became Samford's home run leader this week, hitting four in two games to total six for the season. Evans' first homer in game one vs. UT-Martin tied the game at 5-5, then he hit the game-winner in the 10th inning. He also now leads the team in RBI with 21.
* The Samford pitching staff has a 5.81 ERA, led by Matt Fields' 4.58. Major Allred leads the team in wins (4) and stikeouts (53) and Ty Dedmon is the leader in innings pitched with 63.0 Allred, Dedmon and Derek Tharpe each have 13 appearances to lead the staff.
* Samford and Jacksonville State are tied for last place in the TAAC at 3-12. Samford won two of the three meetings last season in Birmingham, losing game one 16-3 but winning games two and three 9-7and 10-0.
* Samford hasn't won two games in a TAAC series this season. The Bulldogs' conference wins have come against Campbell, FAU and Jacksonville.
* Samford's record is better on the road than at home in 2001. Samford is 7-16 on the road and 4-11 at home. However, only one of SU's TAAC wins have come as the visitor.
