MACON, Ga. - Samford University third basemen Janet Middleton was named the Trans America Athletic Conference softball player of the week by the conference office on Tuesday.

Middleton batted .643 (9-14) with a pair of doubles, a triple, and five RBI in four games against Louisiana Tech and Centenary last week. She tied Samford's school record for most doubles in a career by hitting the 26th double of her career against Centenary and had a slugging percentage of .929.

Middleton has raised her average 67 points over the last eight games by batting .520 over that stretch. She is currently batting 271 with 11 doubles and 12 RBI. It is the second time in her career, Middleton has been named the TAAC Player of the Week. She also earned the honor on March 13, 2000.
