CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Samford won several events and broke school records in its second indoor track and field meet of the season at Southeast Missouri State University on Saturday.
The Bulldogs competed in a triangular meet with SEMO and Murray State University.
Freshman John Williams claimed the 200-meter title with a time of 22.64 and broke the Samford record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.35 seconds in the preliminary heat. Also for the men, freshman Bryan Baddorf won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:54.4, followed by his brother Brett in second at 8:56.9 and Andrew Spear at 9:01.80 in third. Donnie Smith also set a school record with a time of 1:27.10 in the 600 meters.
For the Samford women, freshman LaToya Cunningham set the school record in the 400 meters, and Kristin Timm broke the Samford record for the 600 meters with a time of 1:50.2. The Bulldogs also finished 1-2-3 in the mile run, led by Katie Flewellyn's 5:12.3. Senior co-captains Alice and Abbey McGough followed Flewellyn at second and third, respectively.
Other winners for the women included Leah Reed with a time of 2:20.40 in the 800 meters and Angela Smith with a triple jump of 35'3.25".
