GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Tammy Stevens RBI-single scored pinch runner Amber Fuller from second base and Mindy Shunnarah added an RBI-double as a part of a two-run seventh inning that game Samford a 3-1 victory over Maine at the Gator Invitational Saturday morning at the University of Florida.

Samford (13-13) got on the board first on an RBI-single by Michelle Dickey in the second inning. Michelle Wright doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Dickey's single.

Maine (11-13) tied the game in the bottom of the third on a RBI-double by Jessica Brady who went 3-3 in the game for the Black Bears. The game remained tied until the seventh when Dickey reached on a throwing error by the Maine shortstop and advanced to second as the throw went into the Maine dugout. Fuller went in to pinch run and scored on Stevens hit up the middle.

The Black Bears threatened in the bottom of the seventh as their first two batters reached base. A sacrifice bunt placed the tying run at second base with one out. Erin Landsburg then got Sara Asadoorain to bounce back to her and Aliesha Rautenburg to pop out to catcher Angela Bednark to end the game. Landsburg pitched seven innings for her seventh win of the season. She gave up one run on five hits, struck out three and walked no one to improve to 7-9 on the year. Candice Jaegge took the loss for Maine pitching seven innings giving up three runs, one earned on eight hits and fanning five batters.

Janet Middleton went 2-3 for the Bulldogs including her team-leading 10th double of the season. Kelly Smith and Dana Saffles also had singles in the game for Samford. The Bulldogs will be the third seed in the play off portion of the tournament and will play either Florida or Wisconsin at 6:30 p.m. ET tonight. The championship and consolation games will be played tomorrow at 9 and 11 a.m. ET.
