Bulldog Track and Field Fares Well at TSU Invitational

Final Stats

TROY, Ala. -- Josh Jones finished first in the pole vault and Samford's 4x400 meter relay team won as the Bulldogs fared well at the Troy State Invitational Track and Field Meet on Saturday.

Jones vaulted 4.27 meters to claim the event. He also placed third in the 400 meter hurdles (57.62) and the triple jump (12.24 meters), fourth in the long jump (6.66 meters) and fifth in the discus (34.70 meters).

The Bulldogs posted a time of 3:12.50 in the 4x400 meter relay.

Other notables for the men included second place finishes by John Williams in the 100 meters (10.71), Bryan Baddorf in the 300 meters (8:47.21), Andrew Spear in the 3000 meter steeplechase (9:42.52), Mark Holmes in the pole vault (4.17 meters) and Derek Simmons in the discus (42.39 meters).

Additionally, the Bulldogs 1-2-3-4 in the pole vault and 2-4-5-10 in the 3000 meters.

For the women, there were also a number of second-place finishes. LaToya Cunningham finished second in the 200 (25.01) and 400 meters (57.41), Katie Flewellyn in the 800 meters (2:18,54), Stephanie Flarity in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.45) and the triple jump (10.46 meters), the 4x400 relay team (4:11.32), Lauren Cole in the high jump (1.58 meters), Sarah Aultman in the long jump (5.01 meters) and Hannah Smith in the hammer (36.21 meters).

The Bulldog women went 2-4-5-7 in the 400 meters and 2-3-4-8 in the 800 meters.

Samford returns home to host the Samford Classic at Seibert Stadium on April 13 .
