Voisard Resigns Softball Post

May 10, 2002

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mark Voisard, head softball coach at Samford for the past four years, has resigned to accept a job outside of coaching.

Voisard's teams won 88 games; more than any other softball coach in Samford history. He led the Bulldogs to three Atlantic Sun Tournament appearances while Samford set school records for wins in a season in 2000 with 24 wins and again in 2001 when the Bulldogs claimed 26 victories.

Voisard's overall winning percentage of .398 is the second highest in Samford history behind Jim Nolen (1991-93) who posted a .404 percentage in three seasons and led the Bulldogs to their only conference championship in 1991.

"We appreciate all that Mark did for our softball program during the past four years and wish his family the best as they take on a new endeavor," Samford director of athletics Bob Roller said.

Assistant Coach Beanie Ketcham has been named the interim coach while a search begins for Voisard's replacement.
