Samford faces Division I-A Baylor in the second game of the season. It is the first ever meeting between the two schools, and the Bulldogs first meeting with a Big 12 conference opponent. The last time Samford played a Division I-A foe was in 2000 when the Bulldogs played at North Texas.
Samford is coming off a 24-21 double overtime win over North Alabama that saw the Bulldogs outgain the Lions 384-to-242 yards. Senior wide receiver Aryvia Holmes caught 11 passes for 152 yards to become Samford's all-time career leader in receptions.
Baylor dropped its season opener to California, 70-22 on the road. The Golden Bears forced Baylor into five turnovers. Reggie Newhouse caught a career-high eight recpetions for 164 yards to lead the Bears' offense.
