Birmingham-Southern defeated Samford 5-2 in men's tennis action Wednesday at the BSC Tennis Courts.
BSC earned its first win of the season to improve to 1-1. Samford drops to 1-6.
BSC took the opening doubles point by winning at the No. 1 and 2 positions. Both teams put points up quickly in singles play as Samford's Andres Leal won at No. 6, while BSC's Nils Hanchen scored a victory at No. 1.
Ben Johnson put the Panthers up 3-1 with a win at No. 5, but the Bulldogs closed the gap to 3-2 with Raphael Bohli's win at No. 2.
Kyle Weidman clinched the match for BSC with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 over Johnny Griffee. Richard Turner added the final point in a comeback victory at No. 3.
