Samford University's men's tennis team won the doubles point against Jacksonville State, but couldn't sustain the momentum and fell 5-2 to the Gamecocks Tuesday at the Samford tennis courts.
Raphael Bohli and Manuel Miletic defeated Rodney Rapson and Vedran Sirola, 9-7 at No. 2 doubles, and Johnny Griffee and James Bryce won 8-6 over Toby Bourke and Raphael Rodriguez at No. 3 doubles, giving the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead.
Bohli came back from a set down to defeat Herrera 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. But it was downhill the rest of the way for the Bulldogs, as the Gamecocks went on to win No. 2 through No. 6 singles for the 5-2 win.
Samford (3-8) continues its season Wednesday, hosting Southeastern Louisiana at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs host Eastern Illinois Friday at 3 p.m., then travel to Georgia State for an Atlantic Sun Conference match Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
