Samford continues its eight game Atlantic Sun Conference road trip with games five and six at Troy State on Tuesday. First-pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and both games can be heard on samfordsports.com
The Bulldogs began the long road trip going 2-2 against UCF and Florida Atlantic. Samford took two games from UCF as Trisha Holman went 4-6 and Kelly Smith went 3-7. The Bulldogs then fell to FAU after taking a 4-0 lead in the second game. Angela Bednark hit her fifth home run of the season. Samford has lost two-straight games for the first time since Mar. 7-8. The Bulldogs have not lost three-straight games this season.
The Bulldogs went 16-7 during the month of March posting its most successful month in the program's 15 year history. The month was highlighted by a school record tying seven-game winning streak.
Trisha Holman is 6th in the A-Sun in batting with a .377 average while Kelly Smith with is for 3rd with 10 doubles and Michelle Wright is 3rd with seven home runs. Erin Landsburg is 4th in the league in strikeouts with 86.
Troy State has won three of its last four games and 15 of its last 18 since March 12. Erin Flater leads the Lady Trojans in hitting with a .336 average, six home runs, and 25 RBI. Tamra Howren also has six home runs and 27 RBI and is batting .322. Troy State as a team in hitting .246 and its staff ERA is 2.11. Kacie Flinn is 9-5 on the season. She has started 14 games, pitched 98.1 innings, and has 78 strikeouts. Cassie Wilkenson is 8-4 on the year in 14 starts and has 43 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs are 14-26 all-time against Troy State. The Trojans have won 11 of the last 12 meetings. The Bulldogs only win in the last six years was a 2-0 victory in Birmingham as the 'Dogs and Trojans split a double header.
