Things didn't start too well for the Samford men's tennis team as it dropped the doubles point Wednesday against Birmingham-Southern, but the Bulldogs protected their home court by winning five of six singles matches and walking away with a 5-2 victory.
Johnny Griffee and James Bryce were the only Bulldogs to win twice, but they weren't the only ones to contribute. In arguably its best team effort of the year, Samford (5-12) got singles wins from Griffee, Bryce, Raphael Bohli, Travis Johnson and Joey Jensen.
Samford will try to sustain the momentum with a couple very tough matches this weekend, at Chattanooga on Friday and at home against conference-rival Troy State on Saturday.
