Volleyball Announces Assistant Coaches

Samford Head Volleyball Coach Kris Dorn has announced the promotion of Jennifer Dorn to top assistant and the hiring of Rachel Harnack as the Bulldogs second assistant for the 2003 season.

Jennifer Dorn, a former All-American at Southern California, was the Bulldogs second assistant last season and took over the role of top assistant over the summer with the departure of Lyndsey Benson. Dorn will continue to assist with the training of the middle blockers and with all aspects of recruiting, day-to-day operations, and on court coaching. While at USC, she was a three-time PAC-10 First-Team selection and earned PAC-10 All-Freshman team honors in 1998. Dorn finished her career with 1,084 kills and an attack percentage of .353, along with 401 career blocks.

Rachel Harnack


Harnack joins the Bulldog program after serving for one-year at Liberty. Harnack finished her playing career at Liberty in 2001 as the Flames third all-time leading hitter with 1,515 career kills. She also garnered the Big South Tournament MVP honors after leading the Flames to the school's third championship in 2001 .In addition, she was named to the all-conference first-team twice and was named to the Virginia all-state team two times during her tenure from 1997-2001. In 2002, Harnack played professionally in Indonesia. She will assist in the day-to-day operations; work with the team's hitting, defense and all aspects of on-court coaching.

"I am really excited about the consistency that Jennifer brings to the team, as well as the energy and fresh new attitude that Rachel adds. They will both play pivitol roles in the present and future success of the team," said Kris Dorn.
