Football Continues Preparations For Southeast Missouri State

Sept. 23, 2003

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for two hours on the practice field on campus Tuesday afternoon in preparation for the team's Ohio Valley Conference opener against Southeast Missouri State.

"I thought the first half of practice went pretty well," head coach Bill Gray said. "I thought we were concentrating early, but got sluggish toward the end, and didn't finish strong the way I wanted us to.

"The good news is, we have two more days to come out here and accomplish what we need to accomplish," Gray said. "Every time we are on the field, I want us to be a better and more disciplined football team, and I want us to cut out the mental mistakes. Today, we refocused on some things that got us to where we are, and I want to make sure that, as a team, we play better this Saturday, than we did last Saturday."

The Bulldogs will practice again on Wednesday afternoon at the practice field. The practice will begin at 3:45 p.m.

Saturday night's game between Samford and Southeast Missouri State is scheduled to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The game will be the conference-opener for both teams, and will be Samford's first-ever Ohio Valley Conference football game.
