BIRMINGHAM. Ala. - The Samford University cross country teams will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday, Oct. 16, to compete at the Front Runner Invitational hosted by the UT-Chattanooga Mocs. The women's race two-mile race will begin at 3 p.m., while the men's race is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
What's Up With Samford Cross Country? The Samford cross country teams competed at the Auburn Invitational on Oct. 11 in Auburn, Ala at the Indian Pines Course. The women's team took the 5K event title with a final score of 36 points, while the men's team finished ninth overall in the 8K race with a total of 135 points. Samford's leaders were Lauren Blankenship (second overall, 17:56.84) and Bryan Baddorf (16th overall, 25:46.34).
Blankenship earned OVC Female Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced last Wednesday (Oct. 13), after her remarkable performance at the Auburn Invitational. This is Blankenship's second OVC Athlete of the Week honor this season.
