Volleyball Downed In Conference Play To Morehead State, 3-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team (5-17; 3-9 OVC) fell to Morehead State, 3-1 in a conference match on Saturday (Oct. 30) at Seibert Hall. The scores were as follows: 30-22, 30-26, 30-25, 30-18. Samford's leaders for the match were Angela Dempski, Eileen Hatfield, Jen Yoder and Allison Pickett.

Morehead State took the first match, 30-22. The Eagles recorded 18kills, five errors and 41 total attacks with an attack percentage of .317. The Bulldogs recorded eight kills, six errors and 36 total attacks with an attack percentage of .056. Callaway Logan was the Bulldog leader for game one with four kills and attack percentage of .800, while Hatfield recorded two service aces.

The Eagles captured the second game, 30-26. The Bulldogs recorded 11 kills, two errors and 35 total attacks with an attack percentage of .257, while MSU recorded 19 kills, six errors and 39 total attacks with an attack percentage of .333. Dempski added five kills with an attack percentage of .286, while Yoder posted two service aces for this game.

The Bulldogs won the third game, 30-25. Samford recorded 10 kills, eight errors and 41 total attacks with an attack percentage of .049, while the Eagles recorded 11 kills, eight errors and 44 total attacks with an attack percentage of .068. Yoder added three more services aces, while Hatfield added two. Dempski added three kills for this game.

Morehead State finished with the match win and a final game score of 30-18. For the final game, the Eagles recorded 11 kills, nine errors and 50 total attacks with an attack percentage of .040, while Samford recorded only six kills, 11 errors and 47 total attacks with an attack percentage of -.106.

The Bulldogs recorded a total of 35 kills, 27 errors and 159 total attacks with an attack percentage of .050, while MSU posted 59 kills, 28 errors and 174 total attacks with an attack percentage of .178.

To complete the match, Bulldog's Dempski recorded 11 kills, six errors and 30 total attacks with an attack percentage of .167, while on the defense Hatfield recorded 21 digs with five service aces. Yoder posted five services aces, while Pickett finished with 19 assists.

The Bulldog will travel to battle Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., on Friday, Nov. 5 and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn., on Sat., Nov. 6. Friday's match will begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's match is set for a noon start.
