BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
Samford student-athletes attended a resume workshop Monday night as part of the NCAA Champs/Life Skills program. The workshop was presented by Lori Kissinger, Human Resources Representative for State Farm, and Brent Latta, Career Development Counselor for Samford University.
Student-athletes learned the basics of what to include in a resume, including how to format a resume, how to write a cover letter, mistakes to avoid and how to translate athletic experience in to resume material. Student-athletes spoke with Kissinger afterward concerning internships and jobs with State Farm.
Latta was also able to educate student-athletes on a variety of free services that Career Development offers to all students. The department offers resume editing and proofreading, practice job interviews, resume data base, employer interviews and resume and cover letter printing.
The event was held in Brock Forum on Samford's campus. The Samford Champs/Life Skills Program is made possible by the generous support of State Farm Insurance. Other topics this spring include: Choosing a Career and Real World Finances.
