Samford: Samford (10-9, 5-3 OVC) ended its longest home stand of the season with two straight victories to move into sole possession of third place in the OVC just in time for its toughest road trip of the season. The Bulldogs will play its next four games on the road beginning on Thursday at Tennessee Tech who is one the Bulldogs' heals in fourth place in the OVC. Center Phillip Ramelli is averaging 22 points and 5.7 rebounds over the last three games for Samford. Ramelli is shooting (20-37) 54 percent from the floor and (23-25) 92 percent from the free throw line in the last three games. He scored 23 points against EKU, 22 points against EIU, and 21 points against SEMO. The Bulldogs have moved to second in the nation in field goal percentage. The Bulldogs lead the OVC hitting on 51 percent of their shots. Samford trails on Oklahoma State who is making 51.3 percent of its shots this season.
Tennessee Tech: Tennessee Tech (10-9, 4-4 OVC) has won three of its last four with the only blemish coming by two points to conference leading Austin Peay. Willie Jenkins scored 33 points in a 77-76 victory over Tennessee State. Jenkins is averaging 20.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Cameron Crisp is averaging 13.9 points and Milone Clark is scoring 11.5 points per game. The Golden Eagles are second in the OVC is scoring averaging 77.1 and in rebounding at 37.2 rebounds per game.
Inside Stuff: Samford is 0-3 all-time against Tennessee Tech. The two teams played a home and home series during the 1987-88 season. TTU took a two-point win in Cookeville and a one-point overtime victory in Birmingham The only other meeting came during the 1968-69 season when the Eagles took an 85-58 victory in Cookeville.
