Samford head football coach Bill Gray announced the signing of Drew Guess to a National Letter of Intent Monday morning. Samford has now signed 18 student-athletes for the 2004 season.
Guess prepped at Arab High School in Arab, Ala., where he was the MVP of his high school team for three seasons. He was named All-Region and All-County for three straight seasons as well as being named team captain his senior year. Guess was also a Wendy's High School Heisman State Finalist.
The 5'11" 185-pound running back rushed for an Arab High School record 3109 yards and 39 touchdowns in his career. Last season he rushed for 968 yards on 147 attempts, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and scoring 13 touchdowns.
He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was also a member of the Arab High School basketball team, track team and soccer team.
