BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team held a workout in helmets and shorts in preparation for the team's final scrimmage of spring practice at Seibert Stadium Friday afternoon.
"We had a mental day today," head coach Bill Gray said. "We backed off a little, and we had to get in another day with just helmets. We tried to treat it like the Friday before a game, but we did stay out a little longer to correct some things."
Gray added that the coaches would like to see more physical play from the team in Saturday's scrimmage.
"We need to come out tomorrow and a have a good morning scrimmage," Gray said. "Hopefully we can stay healthy, but also get back to playing physical. The last time we practiced, we weren't as physical as we need to be. We are looking forward to seeing what some of these young guys will be able to do. This will be our last chance to look at some of them. We have several decisions that will have to be made, and hopefully things will clear up after tomorrow."
The Bulldogs' final scrimmage of the spring is scheduled to kickoff at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Seibert Stadium. Next week will be the team's final week of spring practice. The team will practice at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
