BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - This week's Southeastern Temperature Controls Samford Student-Athlete of the Week is senior Emily Nunnally. The Hattiesburg, Miss. native went 4-0 on the past weekend in doubles and singles, guiding the Bulldogs women's tennis team to a 2-0 start in the Ohio Valley Conference.
In the conference opener at Austin Peay, the Hattiesburg, Miss., native teamed up with Katie Crawford at No. 1 doubles and walked away with an 8-5 victory. Nunnally had no problems during the singles match either, coming away with a decisive 6-3, 6-3 victory on court one, guiding the Bulldogs to a 6-1 victory.
Different opponent same result for Nunnally in the second match of the OVC schedule. This time Morehead State was in the way for Nunnally and Crawford. The Bulldog duo once again came out victorious, this time by a score of 8-6. It was the same result in singles for Nunnally; however, this time a little more dramatic. Nunnally clinched the 5-2 victory for Samford with a thrilling 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Verena Baernwick.
On the season Nunnally, is a commanding 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-1 at No. 1 doubles teamed with Crawford.
