CLARKESVILLE, Tenn. -
The Samford men's tennis team recorded a 4-3 victory over Austin Peay in the Bulldogs first-ever Ohio Valley Conference match. Samford (5-3) won four of the six singles matches for the victory on Austin Peay's (5-3) home court.
"For the second straight match we lost the doubles point, but came back to win the match," Head coach Kemper Baker said. "They battled hard and came back to win a huge match. This win coupled with the big win against Birmingham-Southern will give us a big push of momentum as we head into the heart of the OVC schedule."
Manuel Miletic upped his singles record to 6-3 on the season with a, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, victory at No. 1 singles. Freshmen Rob Nunnery and Bradley Weaver continued their impressive play with victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. While, Johnny Griffee upped his record to 8-1 on the season in dominating fashion, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
The Bulldogs will continue with the OVC schedule, Saturday, March 6 against Morehead State at the Darwin C. Hardison Tennis Center. The match begins at 12:00 p.m. and will be a doubleheader with the Bulldogs women's team.
