BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker, 4-3, to Birmingham-Southern Thursday afternoon at the BSC Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs (11-4, 6-0 OVC) won the doubles point, but could not hold the advantage losing four-of-six singles matches to the Panthers (11-5).

"This was a real tough match," Head coach Terri Sisk said. "You could tell that both teams wanted to win real bad. I am a little frustrated, but we need to stay focused and get ready for Tennessee Tech tomorrow."

Samford took two-of-three doubles matches to gain the early 1-0 advantage. Emily Nunnally and Katie Crawford disposed of Cammie Nix and Charlotte Ann Kelly on court one, 8-2. On court two, Sarah McKey and Emily White wrapped up the doubles point with a 8-6 win.

The Bulldogs struggled in singles winning only on court one and court four. Nunnally won her ninth-straight singles match 7-5, 6-1, on court one. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native was down 3-5 in the first set and then proceeded to win 10 of the next 11 games to take the match and improve to 12-2 on the season. McKey defeated Stephanie Boucher on court four, 6-0, 7-6.

The Bulldogs will look to extend their Ohio Valley Conference winning streak to seven games tomorrow when they travel to Cookeville, Tenn., to play Tennessee Tech (3-7, 1-0).
