Women's Tennis Falls to Defending OVC Champ, Murray State, 6-1

April 9, 2004

MURRAY, Ky. - The Samford women's tennis team fell to the three-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Murray State Racers, Friday afternoon in Murray, Ky. The Racers (15-5, 7-0 OVC) swept doubles and won five-of-six singles matches for the 6-1 victory over Samford (12-7, 6-2).

"I thought that we played well against the defending champions," Head coach Terri Sisk said. "I am proud of the girls, but the big difference tonight was that Murray took advantage of our weaknesses and we did not."

Sarah McKey improved her OVC mark to 7-1 on the season with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 victory on court four.

The Bulldogs take on Eastern Illinois tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. in Murray, Ky.
