BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford sophomore Alex Munday, who was named the 2003-04 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year for women's basketball, will miss the remainder of the season due to an illness.

Munday will apply for a medical redshirt at the conclusion of the season, and she is expected to make a full recovery for the 2005-06 season.

Munday played in the first five games this season, but has missed the last 12 games. In her five games, Munday led the team in scoring (12.8 ppg.) and rebounding (5.6 rpg.).

In her first season at Samford in 2003-04, Munday was the team's leader in scoring (14.2 ppg.), rebounding (5.6 rpg.), field goals made (155) and field goal percentage (44.8 percent).
