BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford women's basketball team will continue its current road swing when it plays at Eastern Illinois Thursday evening in Lantz Arena.
Samford enters the game with a record of 9-8 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Samford is coming off a 61-55 loss at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. EIU is currently 8-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Panthers lost, 86-68, at home to Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
Samford and Eastern Illinois are meeting for just the second time. Last season, Eastern Illinois defeated Samford, 70-51, in Birmingham.
Thursday's game is the only meeting between the teams this season.
Samford has three players averaging double figures in points during the conference season. Cora Beth Smith leads the team in scoring in OVC games, averaging 13.0 points per game. Sarah Clement averages 12.2 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game in the OVC. Veronica Pike is averaging 11.2 points per conference game.
