Women's Basketball Tournament Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Sheraton Birmingham Hotels Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday at Seibert Hall.
In the tournament, Samford (1-1) will take on Florida Atlantic (0-2) on Friday and Georgia State (1-0) on Saturday, both at 7:00 p.m. Birmingham-Southern (0-1) will also be competing in the tournament, and the Panthers will take on Georgia State on Friday and FAU on Saturday, with both games scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Samford is 4-6 all-time against Florida Atlantic, and 1-9 all-time against Georgia State. Samford has not faced either team since the Bulldogs left the Atlantic Sun Conference after the 2002-03 season. The last meeting with FAU was on Jan. 30, 2003, a 60-46 FAU win at Seibert Hall. Samford and Georgia State last met on Mar. 4, 2003, with GSU coming away with a 64-52 win in Atlanta.
Samford's top scorers so far this season are Chelsee Insell (14.0 ppg.) and Alex Munday (13.0 ppg.). Munday also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Taryn Towns and Megan Wilderotter share the team lead in assists, averaging 2.0 assists per game.
