ALCORN, Miss. - The Samford University women's tennis team swept Alcorn State, 7-0 on the road on Friday (Feb. 18). The match marks the Bulldogs second-consecutive win.

"I am extremely proud of the performance of this very talented Samford team," said head coach Terri Sisk. "Alcorn State played much different than any of the teams we have played for the 2004-05 season, but the Bulldogs made great strides today and pulled out another win."

In singles, the Bulldogs started with Emily White in the No. 1 position against ASU's Sewetha Deveraj. White defeated Devaraj (7-5, 6-2). Sarah McKey followed in the No. 2 position, coming away with the win over Shu-Hwei Huang Freundt (6-0, 6-2), while Katie McMiller, in the No. 3 position, won over ASU's Elana Rood, 2-6, 6-1 (10-4). Samford's Lauren Pitcher and Christie Baker also won their individual singles matches.

In doubles, the Bulldogs took all three matches as the Bulldogs came away with the 7-0 win.

The Bulldogs will continue road play against Lamar University on Saturday, Feb 19 in Alcorn, Miss. Competition is set for a 9 a.m. start.
