BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
Samford baseball will hold its first-annual Hall of Fame Banquet on February 25 at the Sheraton in downtown Birmingham.
The first class of inductees will be former Samford players Gerald Tuck and Wendell Magee.
"This is an event to honor two of the great players in Samford baseball history," Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. "Hopefully, it will also be something everyone involved with the baseball program, past and present, can support."
Tuck played at Samford (then-known as Howard College) from 1955-59. Tuck played both football and baseball at Samford, and he played professionally before going into coaching. Tuck is currently in his 16th year as an assistant on the Samford coaching staff.
Magee played at Samford from 1993-94. He batted .376 in 1993 and .382 in 1994, and he was chosen second-team All-TAAC in 1993 and first-team in 1994. Magee has played with the Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians organizations.
The banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $50 per person. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Samford baseball office at (205) 726-4095.
