Baseball Plays Midweek Games At Auburn And UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play two midweek road games at in-state rivals this week. Samford will play at No. 28 Auburn on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., and the team will then play at UAB on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Samford enters the week with a record of 5-15 overall and 1-2 in the OVC after defeating Jacksonville State, 5-1, on Saturday. Auburn is currently 19-8 overall and 3-3 in the SEC. The Tigers are coming off a 7-5 win at LSU on Sunday. UAB has a record of 17-7 overall and 4-2 in Conference USA. The Blazers fell at Houston, 8-1, on Sunday.

Scott Kubina is scheduled to start for Samford on Tuesday, while Wednesday's starter is scheduled to be Parker Gargis. Kubina, in 7.1 innings of work, has a record of 0-0 and an ERA of 8.59. Gargis currently has a record of 0-2 and an ERA of 7.94.

Statistically, John Morgan leads the team with a .342 batting average. Justin Worthington and Bear Burnett are tied for the team lead in hits with 22. Matt Alling and Garrett Rice are tied for the team lead in home runs with three each. Alling leads the team in RBI with 19, while Rice has 18.
