DECATUR, Ala - The Samford University golf teams completed day one of the OVC Golf Championships Monday afternoon (April 18) with the women's team at Decatur Country Club, while the men's teams battled at the Burningtree Golf Club. The Samford men's team is in the lead with a score of 287, while the women's team sits fifth with a score of 339. On the women's side, Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State are tied for the lead with a score of 321, while Eastern Illinois shot 328 for third and Tennessee Tech carded 330 for fourth.

On the Samford's men's side, Nathan Turner (4) leads the Bulldogs with a score of 70, while Ryan Mayberry (T6) shot 71 and Andrew Villarreal (T10) carded 72. Bradley Farmer finished with a score of 74, while Reed Davis shot 77.

On the Samford's women's side, Brooke Barriento (5) leads the Bulldogs with a score of 77, while Kelly Villarreal (T14) carded 84 and Tricia Harlow (T20) shot 87. Bulldog Kelly Stout shot 91, while Ashleigh Hicks carded 96.

The Bulldogs will continue to host the OVC Golf Tournament on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 19-20 in Decatur, Ala. Starting tee time is set for 8 a.m.
