BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team held its final two-a-day practices on Wednesday at Seibert Stadium. The team practiced at 7:55 a.m., and then again at 3:45 p.m.
"We got in some good work today," Samford Head Coach Bill Gray said. "This time of year, you get tired of going against each other, and you want to start playing someone in a different colored jersey."
The Bulldogs will hold their final preseason scrimmage on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The workout will be a scripted scrimmage.
"We will try to script everything that can possibly happen a week from Thursday," Gray said. "We will try to cover every situation to make sure our guys will know what to do. You always run short of time in practice, and every situation that can come up from opening kickoff to the final whistle, we will cover tomorrow night."
Samford opens the 2005 season on Thursday, September 1, when the Bulldogs play host to Edward Waters College at Seibert Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, and can be heard locally on WVSU FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samfordsports.com or www.al.com/wvsu.
