The Samford women's basketball program has signed Emily London to a national letter of intent, head coach Mike Morris announced Thursday.
"We are very excited to have Emily join our basketball family," Morris said. "Emily had many options and we are fortunate she chose Samford. Her ability at the point guard position to pass, shoot, handle the ball and make players around her better will be a tremendous asset to our team. She fits everything we look for in a true student-athlete at Samford."
London (5-7, G, Lexington, Ky., Lexington Christian Academy) comes to Samford from Lexington Christian Academy. As a junior, she averaged 16.3 points and 4.3 assists per game. London shot 51 percent from the field and 81 percent from the free-throw line last season.
London was picked as one of the top 10 players in Kentucky for the Blue Chip All-Star team in 2005-06. She was named All-City and was the MVP of the All "A" Classic Game. She was also named the captain of her team. She led here team in assists, points, free-throw percentage and three-point field goal percentage.
Morris said he expects to have two more signees later in the signing period.
Samford opens the 2006-07 regular season Friday night at Alabama. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off from Coleman Coliseum.
